🕵️ 02. Modus Operandi (How Fraudsters Execute This Scam)

1. Initial Social Engineering Contact: Fraudsters send urgent SMS messages or spoofed calls impersonating official authorities (CBI, Cyber Police, TRAI, State Electricity Board, or Bank Fraud Units).
2. Panic Creation & Urgency Trap: Victims are threatened with immediate account freeze, SIM card disconnection, or false legal arrest warrants if they do not comply within minutes.
3. Malicious Link / APK Delivery: Victims are instructed to click a phishing URL or download a side-loaded APK (e.g., fake customer care support or remote access utility).
4. Credential Harvesting / Financial Siphoning: The malicious payload extracts SMS OTPs, UPI PINs, or remote screen control to siphon funds from linked bank accounts.
